About Our Bake-At-Home Cinnamon Buns

For these cinnamon buns we started with a 100% whole wheat pastry flavour. The whole wheat gives it an added depth of flavour while also providing vitamins and minerals that are completely void in white flour. We then added the filling, made from butter, brown sugar, a hint of organic nutmeg and our secret ingredient - organic true cinnamon.

True cinnamon is made from the tender inner bark of the cinnamon tree. It has a more subtle and elegant cinnamon flavour compared to the more commonly used cassia cinnamon, which can have a harsh and spicy cinnamon flavour.

To top it all off we have included a side of tangy vanilla cream cheese frosting. The whole wheat flour combined with the tangy frosting and sweet cinnamon swirls gives these cinnamon buns a great balance and an unforgettable flavour.

Cinnamon Bun Ingredients: Organic whole wheat flour (Anita's Flour Mill, Chilliwack), butter, organic cane sugar, brown sugar, grass-fed organic yogurt, organic cream, organic true cinnamon, organic nutmeg, pink Himalayan salt, baking soda, yeast.

Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients: Cream cheese, butter, sugar, vanilla extract.

Manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts, walnuts, wheat, and dairy.

 

Baking instructions for if you want to bake them right away:

Place cinnamon buns in the fridge as soon as you get them.

In the morning, take the buns out of the fridge and leave on the counter for 45 minutes to warm up.

Preheat oven to 350 f with a thick-bottomed pan inside on the middle rack.

Cover the buns with aluminum foil. To prevent buns from sticking to foil, make a tent using a toothpick stuck into each bun to hold the foil up. Do not puncture foil.

Place the buns on the preheated pan in the middle rack of the oven.

Bake for 40 minutes.

Take the buns out of the oven, remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 10 - 15 minutes, or until slightly golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on a cooling rack for 15 minutes.

Do not leave the buns on the hot pan as this will cause it to stick.

Once cooled spreading the frosting evenly over the buns and serve.

Baking instructions if you want to bake them at a later date:

Put buns in the freezer as soon as you get them.

The night before you plan on making them, put them in the fridge to thaw.

The next day, let the buns warm up on the counter for 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 f with a thick-bottomed pan inside on the middle rack.

Cover the buns with aluminum foil. To prevent buns from sticking to foil, make a tent using a toothpick stuck into each bun to hold the foil up. Do not puncture foil.

Place the buns on the preheated pan in the middle rack of the oven.

Take the buns out of the oven, remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until slightly golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool on a cooling rack for 15 minutes.

Do not leave the buns on the hot pan as this will cause it to stick.

Once cooled spreading the frosting evenly over the buns and serve.
