Description: If you've been searching for a locally-grown, versatile cooking oil this is it! Grass-Fed Tallow is considered one of the best and healthiest cooking oils and shortening substitutes for baking.

Tallow is made from rendered beef fat. It's flavour is neutral and it has a texture and apperance similar to coconut oil. It's solid at room temperature and melts into a liquid when heated.

Tallow from grass-fed cows contain higher levels of omega 3 fatty acids and CLA compared to grain-fed cows. It also contains vitamins A, D, K, E, B12 and choline in their most bioavailability forms.

Compared to other cooking fats and oils, including olive oil and butter, tallow has a higher smoke point around 420 to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. Smoke point refers to the temperature at which an oil starts to burn, smoke, oxidize and lose many of its nutritional benefits. Because of its high smoke point tallow is the healthiest way to deep fry foods.

About Granby Meat Company

Granby Meat Company is a new butcher shop out of Grand Forks. The owners of Granby also own PV Beef Ranch which has been in their family since 1972. Devin and Brittani are now third generation ranchers and have been running the ranch for the past 5 years.

All of their cows are pasture-raised meaning that these animals spent the majority of their lives outside on a grassy field with the sunlight on their skin, fresh Kooteny air in their lungs, clean water to drink and plenty of nutritious grass to eat.

Their cows diet consists mostly of fresh grass from the mountain range in the summer months. In the winter they're fed a mix of alfalfa, straw, corn silage and rolled barley which is all grown on-farm.

Details: Sold in approx 400 gram containers.

Tallow doesn't need to be refrigerated and can sit on the counter for up to one year. At room temperature it'll be soft. In the refrigerator it'll become hard.
