Description: Shallots are small, elongated members of the allium family, closely related to onions and garlic. Their flesh is pale and tender, with a more delicate, nuanced flavor compared to onions—mildly sweet with subtle hints of garlic. Shallots are prized in cooking for their versatility and ability to enhance dishes without overpowering them. They can be used raw in dressings, salads, and salsas, or cooked to add depth to sauces, sautés, and roasts.
