Description: Black Futsu squash is a small, heirloom variety of winter squash from Japan, prized for its unique appearance and rich flavor. Its skin is dark green to nearly black when young, maturing to a chestnut or deep orange-brown color with a warty, deeply ribbed texture. Inside, the flesh is bright orange, dense, and sweet with a slightly nutty, earthy flavor. 

The squash can be roasted, steamed, or used in soups, and its skin becomes tender and edible when cooked.
