About Our Quiche Pie Shell

For our Quiche Pie Shell we started by milling locally-grown Soft White grain into a light and fluffy whole wheat flour using our stoneground mill. We then leave the freshly-milled flour unsifted to ensure maximum flavour and nutrition. We chose Soft White because of its delicate buttery flavour and light texture. We then incorporated butter and salt and rolled it out into a beautiful pie shell.

Each pie shell is 9 inches and comes frozen. Follow this link for baking instructions or scroll to the bottom of this page.

Ingredients: Freshly-milled organic Red Fife flour (grown by Fieldstone Organics, Armstrong, milled by Confluence Farms), butter, pink Himalayan salt.

Baking Instructions:

Do not blind bake this crust. Because it is made with whole wheat flour, it won’t get soggy and there is no need.

Remove your pie shell from the freezer about 30 minutes before using. The pie shell should go into the oven chilled but not frozen.

Pre-heat the oven to the temperature in your recipe. Place a thick-bottomed baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven to preheat as well. This will help to evenly distribute the heat from the oven to the aluminum pie tin.

Once thoroughly preheated, add your filling to the pie shell and place the pie on the hot pan in the oven.

When your pie is done, carefully remove it from the baking sheet and place it on a cooling rack to cool.

Happy baking!
