Description: These Comice Pears are the true definition of fresh. They were hand harvested this week by a small family run orchard called Sunny Spot Farm, tucked away on an inconspicuous road out in Bonnington.

Comice pears are often considered the sweetest and juiciest of all pear varieties. Their flavor is rich, honeyed, and almost dessert-like, with a delicate floral note and very little acidity. The flesh is silky, tender, and extremely juicy.

These are not like your typical grocery store pears. They are not coated in any type of artificial wax that will make them look shiny and preserve them for months on end. These pears are meant to be enjoyed while they're still fresh.

How can you tell when your pear is ripe? Pears are ripe when the tip of the pear where the stem comes out is soft to the touch but the body of the pear is still firm. Pears ripen from the inside out. So if you wait until the entire pear is soft it will be too ripe.
