About Our Wheat "Rice"

Wheat "Rice" are whole grain wheat berries. These are the same wheat berries that we source from Fieldstone Organics Farm in Armstrong and mill into our fresh flour.

When soaked in water and cooked, wheat berries act as a great rice substitute. Not only is it more nutritious than white rice, it's also more flavourful and filling. Wheat "Rice" is also highly versatile. You can use it in soups, cold salads, hot breakfast cereal and rice pudding.

How To Cook

Instant Pot

Soak wheat berries overnight.

Add 1 cup water, 1 cup Wheat berries.

Cook for 30 minutes in the Instant Pot.



Soak wheat berries overnight.

Add 1 cup Wheat "Rice" to 3 cups boiling vegetable broth or water. Reduce the heat to low.

Cover the pot, and let the soaked grains simmer for 30-40 minutes.

Your Wheat "Rice" is ready when it's chewy and tender. There may be some liquid left in the pot. Drain it off, and serve.
