FARM NEWS
We've Upgraded Our Recipe Blog!
Over the past few years we've been challenging ourselves to eat as locally and as seasonally as we can throughout the year. As a result we've come up with a lot of new recipes.
All of our recipes (with the exception of a few desserts) use 80% or more locally-grown ingredients. The blog is categorized into seasons, sides, salads, mains, desserts, baking and pantry recipes. You can even look up recipes based on vegetable by using the search bar.
Our goal is to make eating locally and seasonally as easy as possible. We hope that our blog can become a valuable resource for anyone who wants to eat more local!

Blueberry Cornmeal Buckle
A buckle is an old-fashioned cake that contains fruit. To make things interesting we decided to use Montana Morado purple cornmeal for this recipe which is a softer cornmeal that gives this buckle a purplish hue.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 🍎
Worry-Free Food
Growing up I (Nathan) felt indifferent towards food. I just ate what I thought tasted best. Then as I got older I became nutrition-focused. Everything became about micro and macro nutrients and avoiding toxins. Since becoming farmers our diet began to center around its environmental and community impact.
But as we dug deeper into the benefits of locally-produced food that's grown in biodiverse soils we started to realize that it contained everything that we value. It has the best flavour, it's highly nutritious and it's the most sustainable.
When we made eating local our north star it released a lot of emotional baggage around our diet.
We no longer have to read ingredient labels to see if there's bad stuff in there (whole foods don't come with an ingredient label because there's only one ingredient).
We no longer have to worry if we're eating the "right" foods for our health (which seems to change every week).
And we no longer have to wonder if we're contributing to global pollution or labor exploitation somewhere in the world.
When you're not constantly worrying about your food choices you'd be surprised how much more you enjoy eating it.
