Spring has sprung!

This bed doesn't look like much now but in about a month it will be teeming with glorious thick and juicy asparagus! 🌵

We added a thin layer of rich composted chicken manure that we sourced from Armstrong. This compost is high in nitrogen which is like rocket fuel for the plants 🚀

 

Pro tip: ALWAYS read the directions very carefully 🙃

We just planted Aji Peach Fantasy pepper seeds that we were gifted by Brave About Veggies, a new small-scale farm that focuses on heirloom garden seeds, milling corn, chilies and heritage beans that just so happens to be run by my previous boss and farm mentor in Kelowna.

He's become a real bean counter since I left his farm. And those beans are absolutely delicious!

Stoke the fire hot sauce is a small batch, locally-made hot sauce made by our friends and fellow farmers Stu Smith and Sarah Harper. Their farm, Track Street Growers out of Revelstoke, is where they grow a lot of the ingredients for their hot sauces, including over 40 varieties of rare and exotic spicy peppers!

The ingredients are simple and the flavours are spectacular. If you're a hot sauce lover this will become your new favorite condiment.

Why not try our farm-to-table Carrot Cupcakes? Our cupcakes are made with our organic Soft White flour, sourced from Armstrong and milled fresh by us. We then added grated carrots pulled fresh from under the snow in our garden, and a wonderful spice mix of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The result is a soft, moist cake with a classic carrot cake flavour.

On top is a swirling dollop of vanilla bean cream cheese frosting made with real organic Madagascar vanilla bean that we scraped fresh from the pod. The tangy cream cheese frosting mixed with vanilla bean and a sprinkling of freshly grated nutmeg on top makes for a dangerously delicious combination.
