Delivery Schedule Change Happening Next Week

Starting next week our new summer time delivery schedules will be as followed:

For Nelson the new delivery schedule will be Thursdays between 5am - 7:30am starting on May 25th.

For Castlegar the new delivery schedule will be Monday’s between 5am - 7:30am starting on May 29th.

We’ve decided to switch to early morning deliveries to avoid the heat of the day. We want to make sure you get the freshest veggies possible so dropping them off in the cool mornings is our best strategy. If you happen to leave the house before 7:30 am let us know and we’ll work something out.

This week’s delivery schedule will on Sunday as usual.

Progress Report:

The days are starting to blur together. After four straight weeks our routine of waking up around 4 am and weeding and planting until 3 pm is starting to become monotonous and exhausting. Our plants are all ready to go into the ground so we can’t slow down yet! We planted our tomatoes, pepper and potatoes this week (left photo) and we only have a few more beds to go until it’s all filled up.

The battle to get the sod out of each bed is almost over but the war against the grass will continue all season long. It’s already started coming back with a vengeance in the first half of the garden (right photo) which means as soon as we’re done planting, we’ll be weeding all over again 😅

Kootenay Corner Plant Sale This Weekend!

Our friends and fellow farmers over at Kootenay Corner Gardens are having their annual plant sale this weekend. It will be held on their newly built farm on 2450 Filipoff road - just a few minutes from Playmour junction. Farmers Josh and Thalia are former chefs who use to work together at Pitch Fork Eatery in Nelson. This is their second season farming so be sure to show your support and check out their beautiful farm if you’re in need of some seedlings!
